1st Place - 2008 OKC Winter Quilt Show
Made
as part of the MEN OF BIBLICAL PROPORTION
exhibit, this is one of 52 quilts based on biblical characters and
designed and constructed by male quilters. The collection premiered at the
2005 Houston International
Quilt Festival and will travel to quilt shows around the
country for several years.
I feel honored to be part of this
exhibit, which includes entries from nationally recognized quilt artists.

The corner blocks, backing, and background of the
center appliqués are the only commercial fabrics used. I hand-dyed the
blue borders and fabrics used in the appliqué. The green hieroglyphic
blocks illustrate the Plagues of Egypt and were designed on the computer, printed on ink-jet fabric, hand-dyed
green, then bleach-discharged when the dye proved too dark.
A CD of the collection is available from
the MOBP website. It contains photos of all 52 quilts, plus stories and
artist bios. It's a terrific way to experience the entire show and
proceeds benefit Multiple Sclerosis research.
